![]() ![]() LED BULB – The Beauty of Solid State of LightingA most sought-after component in the electrical and electronic industry, this bulb is a semiconductor product that is assembled into lamps to be used as the lightings. It is generally known as Light Emitting Diode or the ‘solid state lighting’. They are quite energy efficient, durable, cheaper, versatile, and long-lasting when compared to the normally used incandescent bulbs and CFLs. Common Types of LED Bulbs Some of the common types of LED bulbs available in the market are: Diffused Bulb: This style of LED bulb is the most common one. In this, the clusters of LED bulbs are covered with the dimpled lens, so that they help to spread the light in a wide area. These bulbs can be used in many areas like lighting of the rooms and homes, porches, in lamps, hallway, reading lamps, and places where there are low-light application. They are available in the standard Edison base. Dimmable Globe LED Bulb: These bulbs are mainly designed for use in bathroom vanities, etc. These bulbs are very energy efficient as they consume only 10 watt power and produce light equivalent to 40 watt traditional bulbs. These bulbs have 200 degree of beam angle so that they can emit light in the vast area. They are dimmable from 100 percent to 10 percent. ![]() LED bulb | Image Resource : directindustry.com Track Lighting, Pin Base: These LEDs are ideal for track lighting. They are available in MR-16 pin base. They have significant characteristics of being cooler than others. They do not tend to heat the rooms, as no matter how long they are illuminated or remained on. Moreover, they don’t are not heated. These are 80% to 90% more efficient that the older bulbs. Also they last 10 times longer than the CFLs and thus, the replacement costs get reduced as the frequency to change bulbs gets reduced. Other LED Products Flood Reflector LEDs: These LEDs have a screw in base and are used in track lights and recessed cans. They range from 7.5 to 17 watts. Their beam widths vary from PAR20 to PAR38. They also have several dimmable models. Thus, they are 80% to 90% more energy efficient than the traditional bulbs. They last 10 times longer than the bulbs and the CFLs. The replacement costs get reduced as the frequency to change bulbs gets reduced. Flame Tip LEDs: They are Candelabra base LEDs and are designed to replace the base incandescent Candelabra bulbs. These Candelabra tip LEDs only draw 3.5 watts of electricity and deliver the equivalent light of 25 watt to 35 watt of older bulbs. In the typical older Candelabra bulbs the light gets disbursed to downwards, but due to heat skin in the base in these LEDs the light in this don’t get downwards. LED Tube Light: Made to replace the old fluorescent bulbs, these LEDs are available in different watts ranging from 8 watt to 16 watt, so that they replace the higher watt traditional T8/T10/T12 fluorescent tubes. These LED tubes are generally installed in high ceilings in the commercial sites and thus, do not get damaged easily. So, the frequency to change these tubes gets reduced and it becomes the additional savings for the consumers. With many types and still more to come, LED bulbs create a revolution in the market. |
